Dave Benedict is a Master Electrician and a renowned specialist in boiler services and maintenance. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Dave has over 30 years experience in providing services to western Canada’s oilfields and other industrial installations.
Dave’s career started in 1975, when BAM Electric Motor Rewind Ltd. was turned over to him by his father and partners. Alberta was two years into an oil boom, and there was a great demand for electrical expertise in the oilfields. The company, now called BAM Electric (1975) Ltd., worked mainly on the wiring of drilling rigs, service rigs, boilers, and air heaters. The Lister company and Widney Well Servicing were among its first customers.
By 1990, Dave saw an opportunity to specialize even further. When boilers weren’t working properly, the field supervisors were calling in local electricians to fix them. However, troubleshooting and fixing boiler problems calls for specialized knowledge. Unless the repair is made by a technician with boiler skills, safety can be compromised and the repair might not work.
In 2001, Dave changed its name to BAM Boilers Ltd. to emphasize the company’s specialization in boilers. Today, oilfield companies demand that only qualified boiler technicians troubleshoot and repair their boilers.
